One of the knives with the most history behind its Origin is called a Puukko. The first examples of this style were found in the 790 AD. Historical evidence shows that the Sámi people used the puukko as an everyday knife during Viking era. This knife style continued to gain popularity and this simple tool took on many different forms. Military models of puukko were popular in the Russian criminal underworld under the name "Finnish knife" or finka since the 20th century. The modified versions were among the models on which the Soviet military knife NR-40 was based and which was informally called "finka". Due to the name, size and shape of this knife I thought it would be best to do a Perch Themed version of this for our first batch. The Scientific name for our yellow barred friends is Perca flavescens. So we combined them to get our name, Perca Puukko. There is many differences between an original Puukko knife and our version but we wanted to offer a full tang version with a thicker stock that would be a great companion for fishing, hunting, camping or just hiking. We have 2 versions of handles. A stacked Serape Blanket look out a honey comb resin that looks like a perch. Both come with a Perch Mosaic in the handle and Perch etching on the blade.
